Rahul Gandhi files nomination from Amethi

NEW DELHI: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who faces a triangular contest from the family pocket borough of Amethi, filed nomination papers from Amethi on Saturday following a massive roadshow.

Priyanka Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra accompanied Rahul Gandhi during his 40km-long roadshow from Gauriganj to Amethi collectorate. Congress president Sonia Gandhi was by her son's side when he filed the nomination papers.

Responding to queries from reporters, Rahul Gandhi denied making any personal remark against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

"I did not make any personal remark. I just said Modi didn't mention his marital status earlier," Gandhi said.  The Congress vice president also said that opinion polls will be proved wrong like in 2004 and 2009.

A two-time MP from Amethi, Gandhi is locked in a triangular contest this time with BJP candidate Smriti Irani and Kumar Vishwas from Aam Aadmi Party pitted against him.
